Castor offers backbone and backhaul services to telecom operators and service providers. A backbone service connects the customer to the Castor Networks teleport, providing a highly reliable, robust dedicated and transparent point to point connection for voice and/or IP connectivity. A backhaul service is a space only service used by GSM, WiFi or WiMax operators for in-country connectivity to connect remote base station to the main gateway of the customer.
Voice backbone services
For voice backbone Castor will provide for terrestrial circuits (E1’s) to the Telehouse/PoP nearest to the selected international voice carrier by the customer mostly based on G723 and transparent leased lines (E1’s). Alternatively IP is of course also an option. For voice backbone, the Castor offers the following service options:
IP backbone services
The Castor teleport facilities in The Netherlands are directly connected via fiber to the Amsterdam Internet Exchange, the largest Internet hub outside the USA, and Tier-1 Internet providers ensuring the best possible Internet connectivity for IP backbone services. Castor offers both DVB/IP as well as SCPC IP backbone solutions.
Backhaul services
Based on the traffic requirements of the customer, Castor provides network design, engineering support and link budgets in order to provide the most cost-effective space only solution for the in-country connectivity requirements of the customer. Castor also offers consultancy services to perform an audit/benchmark on a customer network in order to optimize the network. Especially in legacy networks great costs savings can be made by using advanced modulation and compression technologies.
