Tracking devices

The functionality of the WebTrack solution is determined by the specific tracking device installed on your asset. As each device offers different capabilities, you can choose the device which best suits your needs. Your area of operation, the amount of information you require and the frequency of the intervals at which you need the information will help you determine which device will be most effective for your business.

Satellite tracking unit
The satellite tracking unit exclusively uses satellite tracking and communication. This device is most suited if you need to keep track of your asset's whereabouts without extensive reporting, or when your assets generally operate outside areas with cellular coverage or in other countries operating on different cellular networks.

Benefits:

  • Worldwide coverage using the latest D2 Inmarsat protocol;
  • Position messages can be set to notify at predefined times or distances;
  • Arrival and Departure notifications can be created;
  • Geofence capabilities mean a notification can be generated when the asset enters or leaves a predefined area. Up to 128 of geofences may be created by a user.

Features:

  • Up to 4 Input/Output lines to connect a host of sensors;
  • Optional Panic Button;
  • Theft protection using an immobilizer;
  • Speeding Monitor;
  • Temperature sensor to control the temperature of the cargo;
  • One external device such as a barcode scanner, Dallas key or In-Cab Messaging Terminal may be connected to the device;

Satellite+GPRS tracking unit
The satellite+ GPRS tracking unit is the most effective device when it is important to have visibility of the asset at all times and to receive frequent messages. For example, this could be highly important when transporting high value cargo. This device combines both satellite and GPRS communication, which guarantees the most cost effective means of communication anywhere in the world.

Benefits:

  • Communicates via GPRS but has the ability to switch to satellite when GPRS coverage is not available, making this product ideal for cross boarder fleet management or for use in areas with intermittent cellular coverage;
  • The GPRS function on this device allows you to send high frequency messages and allows for longer messaging abilities at highly reduced cost levels;
  • Position Messages can be set to alert at predefined times or distances;
  • Geofence capabilities mean a notification can be generated when the asset enters or leaves a predefined area as chosen according to your needs;
  • The unit is compact and inconspicuous when installed.

Features:

  • Up to 20 Input/Output lines to connect a host of sensors and devices like:
    • Door Open / Door Close sensors to monitor vehicle access;
    • Theft protection using an immobilizer;
    • Over Speeding Monitor;
    • Temperature monitoring capability;
    • Panic Button;
  • Up to 128 geofences which may be predetermined by you
  • One external device such as a barcode scanner, Dallas key or In-Cab Messaging Terminal.

Peripherals

In-Cab Messaging Terminal
This terminal enables messages to be sent to and from the driver inside the vehicle. The message size depends on the hardware solution chosen:

  • Satellite: predefined messages plus up to 40 characters of free text;
  • GPRS: predefined messages plus up to 200 characters of free text.

The terminal extends the inputs/outputs of your tracking unit with 4 additional inputs/outputs such as immobilizer and ignition detection and the possibility to connect 4 additional sensors e.g. temperature, oxygen etc. Furthermore 1 additional external device can be connected to the terminal such as a barcode scanner. The In-Cab Messaging terminal also provides the driver with an audio-able alert when he is overspeeding, a very effective way to control the drivers behavior.

Driver ID
The driver ID identifies the driver using a Dallas key. This enables you to request reports at any given time detailing information such as the number of hours driven by a particular driver or driving violation reports. The driver will not be able to start the vehicle until he has identified himself with the Dallas key when combined with an immobilizer, adding to the security of the asset.

Immobilizer
By combining the immobilizer with one of our tracking products, you are able to switch your vehicle off using WebTrack (subject to local regulations).

Ignition detection
Enables you to detect when an asset is started. This offers the possibility for a precise utilization and stop report.

Door open/close detection
Enables the system to detect when the doors are opened and closed. This will give you additional specific information to trace any irregularities or delivery times.

Panic button
When a driver activates the panic button, you will be notified immediately, with an on-screen pop-up on your pc, E-mails to an unlimited amount of E-mail addresses and SMS's to your cellular phones.

Temperature sensors
These sensors can detect the temperature and therefore report temperatures at any time. When the temperature rises above or falls below a preset temperature range, an alarm notification will be sent.

Mobility Pack
The mobility pack enhances the satellite tracking unit so it can be installed and de-installed in a matter of seconds. With the complimentary remote panic button there is no need for any installation. Just plug the cable in the cigarette lighter plug, place the satellite tracking unit on top of the roof and off you go.
